I’m considering going to UFV as an exchange student, with whom should I speak?
With your University International Relations Office. They manage all of the necessary documentation and give you guidance for your particular case. When you arrive to the UFV, you will then be in touch with UFV’s International Relations Office. -
Can I study for one semester?
Ask the International Relations Office at your university if you are allowed to study for one semester. It is advisable to come a full academic year if possible. Note that there are many subjects that are offered in a yearlong format and if you come only a semester you don’t have the option of enrolling in them. -
When should I plan to arrive to UFV?
You must be here for the Orientation Days, but we recommend that you arrive to Madrid a little early to find accommodations. -
How is the course organized at UFV?
The UFV is the academic year, but is divided into two semesters: the first runs from September to January and the second from mid-January to May. Exams take place at the end of each semester. -
When do classes start?
The first semester begins in early September and the second in mid-February. -
Does UFVprovide any scholarships to foreign students?

How do I know which subjects / courses to select?

How many subjects / courses can I choose? Is there a limit?
If you come as an exchange student or through Erasmus, UFV does not limit the number of subjects, you should follow the directions of your home university but we recommend no more than 30 ects per semester (five courses) . The minimum required are 18 ECTS (three courses).
If you come for a specialized course, such as a Diploma, Master or Diploma for Latin America, you will have to enroll in specific courses. -
How do I enroll?
During the Orientation Days we will provide you with all of the information and instructions that you need about the enrollment process. -
How will I validate the courses that I took at UFV?
You should ask your home university about how the conversion of credits is handled, as each university has its own system. -
Is it necessary to attend all classes?
Class attendance is mandatory at UFV. Students must attend at least 80% of classes in order to be eligible to take the final exam.When are the exams?
First semester exams take place in late December and January. Second semester exams take place in May. If you fail an exam, you have the option of taking a resit exam again during the exceptional examination period in June.
When can I find out the results / grades?
The International Relations Department will send the file directly to your University one month after the end of the exam period. Under no circumstances will the student record be sent, except for visiting students.

How do I find out what grades I obtained?
Lecturers publish grades a few days after the exam. You must go to a meeting with your professor in order to review the exam or to make a claim if you feel that there was an error in your grade. -
Where can I purchase or obtain the texts for my courses?
You can borrow them from the library at UFV, or buy them at the University bookstore and in bookstores in Madrid. -
How much does it cost to live in Madrid?
You should budget for at least 900 euros per month for an renting an apartment, and living expenses (transportation, food, etc.) but not with many extras. However, if you choose to live in a university residence, it is much more expensive, as it usually includes full board. Prices range around 1000 euros per month in a residence in Madrid. -
Does the UFV arrange my airport pickup?
No. Taxis are safe. All information about how to get from the airport to Madrid is published on the Madrid-Barajas airport website and the UFV Website. -
Does the UFV provide accommodations arrangements?
The UFV does not have a hosting service. However, the Office of International Relations will help you locate housing. The most economical option is to rent a flat with other students (between 350 and 500 euros, not including expenses). There are many ways to find accommodation. -
Can I do an internship in Spain?
Yes, but only during the period in which you are enrolled in UFV and if you have European nationality or NIE. UFV has an office dedicated only to locating internships and employment opportunities for its students (DOIE), and you can use their services while you are here.
